Spotted on the Red Carpet
Award season is upon us, and even if you have no interest in who won Best Picture or TV drama, it is a must-watch for all the latest in red carpet fashion. Missed out the Golden Globes or People's Choice Awards? No worries! Here's a look at who wore what and all the hot trends fresh off the red carpet:
Red Carpet Beauty Trends
- Nude lips: Except for Taylor Swift, Lupita Nyong'o, and Jennifer Lawrence, pretty much most ladies opted for shimmery nude lips including Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams, and Julia Roberts at the Golden Globes.
- Bold eyebrows: Allison Williams, Nina Dobrev, Sandra Bullock, Kat Dennings, and Lucy Hale all sported dark, dramatic brows at the People's Choice Awards. Looks like bold brows are back with a bang, because Julia Roberts, Amy Adams and Amber Heard went the same route at the Golden Globes.
Red Carpet Hair Trends
A ton of celebs sported a sleek, clean look for their red carpet hairstyles, both at the Golden Globes and People's Choice Awards. Jessica Chastain, Drew Barrymore, Cate Blanchett, Naomi Watts, Sandra Bullock, Emma Watson, and Mila Kunis, all went with fuss-free, sleek hairstyles. It was the same story at the People's Choice Awards. Looks like hair trends this year are leaning towards clean and no-fuss.
Red Carpet Fashion Trends
- Colour blocking: A trend that refuses to go away, colour blocking remained a popular pick for celebs. Julia Roberts, Amy Adams, Taylor Swift, Sandra Bullock, Naya Rivera and Beth Behrs all opted for colour blocked gowns/dresses at their respective ceremonies.
- Busy prints: Heidi Klum, Malin Akerman, Lucy Hale, Sandra Bullock, and Nina Dobrev turned heads with some very busy and/or geometric printed dresses and gowns at the or People's Choice Awards. Cate Blanchett, Drew Barrymore and Mila Kunis did the same at the Golden Globes.
- Monochrome: Be it crimson, black, white or blue, celebs went monochromatic with a vengeance. At the Golden Globes, Emma Watson wowed in her red Dior, as did Jennifer Lawrence in a white Dior. Kerry Washington was a vision in her grey monochrome Alexander Wang gown, while Naomi Watts rocked a silver-gold Tom Ford. The People's Choice Awards saw Jessica Alba in an all-white Jason Wu dress with a front zip. Jennifer Hudson was also in white (Kaufman Franco dress) while Queen Latifah opted for an all grey-black outfit.
- Plunging necklines: Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence and Taylor Swift set temperatures soaring with their plunging necklines or strapless gowns.
As always, the red carpet will set many trends for the year ahead. Now that you're all caught up on the hottest trends from the 2014 award season, maybe it's time to incorporate a couple of them into your own wardrobe!
