(19 November 2018) The 2018 Black Friday week opened today on South Africa’s online marketplace bobshop.co.za with more than a hundred discounted products, ranging from cell phones and toys, gaming consoles and home appliances, to fashion and furniture.
“The discounts are in the double digit figures, with many running over 50%”, says Bob Shop CEO Jaco Jonker. He adds that shoppers are especially likely to be attracted to beautifully designed swivel bar chairs with the R499 price tag each, representing a 67% discount; a 386-piece trolley tool set with its price slashed by 70% to only R1,799; Samsung Galaxy Note 8 which is selling for R8,890 or 52% less; a 31800 mAh powerbank with the price reduced by 68% to R129; Asus VivoBook X540N laptop selling at R3,399 or 32% off; and a R159 anti-theft laptop backpack with external USB charging port, discounted by the whopping 80%.
“We also expect great interest for our pre-loved Black Friday segment, launched this year for the first time”, says Jaco Jonker. The pre-loved segment is reserved for unique and rare items such as artworks, antiques and collectible coins, as well as second-hand computers, laptops, smartphones and electronics. Shoppers who yearn for “a touch of class” will find it easier to afford a French Sevres porcelain antique mantel clock or a Royal Stafford geometric floral coffee set, while budget-conscious high-tech lovers will have a chance to own a second-hand iPhone 8 256GB, a demo iPhone X 64GB, or a demo HP Pavilion laptop at substantially reduced prices.
Some Black Friday deals will be shipped free of charge. For other deals, the shipping is extra, with the Bob Shop sellers making sure to offer the best rates possible.
“During the course of the week, Bob Shop’s Black Friday section will be filled with new discounted products at the rate of about one hundred different products a day”, says the Bob Shop CEO and adds: “All deals will be available throughout the Black Friday week, unless they get sold out”.
On Bob Shop, the 2018 Black Friday event will last from 19 to 25 November, to be immediately followed by Cyber Monday week of additional deals from 26 November and until 2 December.
The Bob Shop CEO says that Bob Shop had record sales during the Black Friday week last year, and expects even higher consumer interest this year.
