(10 June 2019) Sellers on South African online marketplace bobshop.co.za are now able to list their products for sale on the go, as the Bob Shop mobile applications for Android and for Apple iOS have been boosted with selling functionality.
“Our mobile apps make selling on Bob Shop faster and easier than ever,” says Bob Shop CEO Craig Lubbe. “Everybody who has a smartphone and an entrepreneurial mindset can now sell from anywhere.”
bobshop first ventured into the m-commerce space with a mobi site at the end of 2010. A shopping app for iOS followed in December 2011, while the Android app was released several months later.
Users with the Bob Shop app on iPhone or Android smartphone can now post an entire Bob Shop listing using their mobile device. It is as simple as snapping a picture of the item with the device, typing the title and description, setting the price, adding a few more details - and the product is ready to be listed on the site for sale.
Craig Lubbe expects to see a notable uptake of the app among the Bob Shop sellers: “The Bob Shop app provides a very simple tool to manage your items for sale on-the-go. It is smooth, fast, and easy to use,” he says.
Since South Africans are more likely to own a smartphone than a laptop or a desktop computer, the updated Bob Shop mobile app makes setting up an online selling business much more accessible for many more people.
“Our aim is to make the process of selling on the app easy for new sellers,” says Lubbe and adds: “The built-in support and flexibility of selling on an online marketplace is what many people need to take their first step into the world of e-commerce, whether part-time or full-time. And now they can do it with just a smartphone in their hands.”
The bobshop mobile apps are free to download. It is also free of charge to list products for sale on the site.
