	So what features will the second generation of this acclaimed tablet probably have? One widely tipped specification is a screen resolution upgrade. While the Nexus 7 had a 1280 x 800 display screen, the Nexus 7 second generation is expected to have a 1920 x 1200 display screen, giving a resolution of 323 pixels per inch, compared with the original of 216 pixels per inch. The experts' favourite choice of processor for the Nexus 7 second generation is the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with 4 processor cores. The RAM is expected to double, from the original 1GB to 2GB. The Nexus 7 was well known for the long life of its 4,325 mAh battery. The rumour is, the Nexus 7 second generation will get an upgrade to a 4000 mAh Li-ion version, providing even better performance. One criticism of the Nexus 7 was that the device had only a 1.2-megapixel forward facing camera. While Google intends to keep this camera, it is expected to add a 5-megapixel rear facing camera to the second generation model.
As with the original Nexus 7, the new version is expected to be available in 16GB and 32GB options. As for pricing, little has been said about this, but a safe bet is that the second generation will cost more than the original. Whatever the final release date of the Nexus 7 second generation, it is likely to be before that of its rival, the second generation iPad Mini, which is not expected to be available before the third quarter of this year, giving the Google device a head start in the market place.
