“We believe that consumer interest will be at its highest this year”, says Bob Shop CEO Jaco Jonker and adds: “Black Friday started off as an international phenomenon, but over the past few years has become especially popular among South African shoppers.”

As an online marketplace, Bob Shop is in a unique position compared to most other ecommerce businesses. “Thousands of online sellers, from smaller independent sellers through to larger online retailers, trade on Bob Shop. We handpick the best of the best deals from our sellers to include them in both our Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales,” explains the Bob Shop CEO.

He adds that this year the response from sellers has been phenomenal, with many planning to post their best products and offer the biggest possible discounts during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weeks.

“We are confident that our sellers’ efforts will pay off, because sales on Black Friday are traditionally exceptionally high, and this year we expect better results than ever,” says Jonker.

As for buyers, they can look forward to two weeks of heavily discounted shopping on Bob Shop, with prices cut by as much as 80%. Hundreds of products will be up for grabs, from consumer electronics and computers, home appliances and furniture, jewellery and fashion items, toys and sports gear to beauty products and more.

On Bob Shop, the Black Friday shopping event opens on 19 November, lasts one week and continues on 26 November for one more week of discounts with Cyber Monday. New deals will be loaded onto the site every day.
