What is StarCraft?
StarCraft is a real-time, sci-fi strategy video game with a military theme. It can be played by 1-8 players and is aimed at players above 13 years of age. Set in the 26th century, the game revolves around three races: Terrans (the future humans), Zerg (parasitical insect-like aliens) and Protoss (advanced humanoids). All three species engage in a spectacular battle to dominate Koprulu Sector, a far-flung part of the Milky Way. Players can play the game as members of any of the three species and each experience is uniquely crafted. Why is StarCraft so popular?
The popularity of StarCraft derives from its compelling plot and beautiful design. Each level is cleverly designed to be more difficult than the last. Dazzling graphic design, numerous multiplayer options and overall aesthetic appeal are also a huge part of why StarCraft remains one of the most popular video games even 14 years after its original release.
In South Korea and Japan, professional StarCraft competitions are held (and even televised) where gamers get paid serious money by sponsors. Interesting facts about StarCraft
