Women's Jeans. Find your Perfect Fit

It¿s the one item of clothing in your wardrobe that can see you through anything, a night around town or a camping trip, a quick drive to the supermarket or even for lounging around the house. Yes, we're talking about jeans, the ultimate comfort-wear for people around the world; here's our quick guide to help you choose that perfect pair.

Choosing a colour that will work for any occasion

It is a good idea to buy at least three pairs of jeans in different colours to carry you through various occasions. However, if you must choose only one pair of denims, go for dark wash blue denims because they look sophisticated, dressed up or down.

Selecting the style for your body type

Jeans come in various cuts (leg shape), fits (the feel of jeans on your hips/thighs), rises (fall of the jeans on your waist) and washes (colour/finish) to flatter your body type and help conceal problem areas. Here's the lowdown on which styles are made for you:

Skinny: Skinny jeans are being touted as the ultimate wardrobe essential for every woman. However many believe it is only for taller woman with killer legs. The truth is this style can actually work with your body shape to make you look slimmer. Go for stretchy skinny jeans so that they fit you comfortably. If you still don't feel comfortable wearing the skinny variety of jeans then opt for the slim-fit instead.

Boot-cut: This style works for and flatters every body type. Boot-cut jeans hug you at the thighs and knees and have a subtle flare knee-down. They are the most versatile among all denim cuts. If you are bottom-heavy, this style is perfect for you.

Slim-fit: Jeans in this style sit tight on your hips and thighs and then flare out or taper in slightly. Just like boot-cut jeans, this style flatters almost every body shape and helps you appear proportionate.

Straight: Straight cut jeans create the illusion of long legs. These classic jeans have roughly the equal breadth from thigh to ankle. They do not flare or taper and help you attain a streamlined look.

Low rise: These jeans sit about 3inches below your navel and are best suited for women with toned bodies and flat abs. Low rise might expose your innerwear or your butt cleavage, so be careful!

The importance of well-fitting jeans

It is important to find jeans that complement the shape and structure of your body because nothing looks quite as bad (fashion-wise) as a pair of poorly fitted jeans. The idea is to not follow jeans trends blindly. A good pair of jeans will 'balance out' your body seamlessly. Keep looking until you find that perfect pair!
