Ngaio Marsh (1895-1982) was a New Zealand crime writer and theatre director, one of the "Queens of Crime" alongside Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, and Margery Allingham. 

About:
The story revolves around a murder that occurs within an artists' colony. Chief Inspector Alleyn is called in to investigate, and the case introduces him to Agatha Troy, an artist who becomes his future wife.
