Arts & Crafts 'Hukin & Heath' Sugar Basket & Spoon
This super quality, silver-plated, antique, arts and crafts sugar basket and spoon has an unusual and wonderful shape. It was made around the late 1800's/early1900's by 'Hukin & Heath', an important British manufacturer, specializing in silver and silver-plate, and was probably designed by 'Christopher Dresser', Britain's famous independent designer. The basket has an unusual, naturalistic bark like finish with crimped or turned in edges and stands on twig or branchlike feet with a similar designed handle. It comes complete with its original and very attractive matching sugar spoon. Both pieces are in great condition, with the base being stamped with the company's trademark, 'H & H' an eagle and a number '7644'. The basket measures 14,2cm x 10,5cm, stands 14cm high and together, with the spoon, weighs 295g.
