The Larimar gemstone Can only be found in a one square kilometre on a

mountaintop in the Dominican Republic.

Using the same mining techniques for the last hundred years, a small group of families

high in the Bahoruco mountains (Image 1 & 2) are the only people permitted to harvest the mineral.

Larimar is mined by hand up to 300 feet below ground (Image 3) The blue beauty of the Caribbean,

interesting patterns of blue, white and blue-green as well as white veins through the stone.
