One of the most significant offerings from South Africa to the world's gardens was the Zantedeschia or arum lily. Prized for their beauty, white Arum's were grown in Britain from 1731. It became an icon of purity, chastity and innocence making it a desired flower for wedding bouquets. With its long lasting blooms which make excellent cut flowers, Arums are highly sought after by both gardeners and florists alike. They are all summer growing and winter dormant with the exception of Zantedeschia aethiopica which is evergreen.
