Frequently asked questions:
Is Arzberg quite fragile, will it break or chip easily? The production of all the Arzberg crockery has been improved over the last years. Arzberg is baked at 140C which makes it very strong and can withstand high temperatures of the oven and microwave.
Can I use Arzberg in the microwave or oven? Yes, as long as the item is not directly out of the fridge or freezer. It must be placed in a cold oven and heated slowly.
Will Arzberg harbour germs? No, Arzberg is made of porcelain which is not porous, which even if chipped or slightly cracked will not attract any germs or odours or flavours. The crack may stain, but this is easily cleaned by placing the item into a weak bleach solution.
I get black marks on my plates? This is caused by tarnished cutlery. Even if your cutlery is clean, it does become tarnished over a period of time. To clean resulting marks on your crockery, use either a ceramic cleaner or a little mild abrasive and rub the mark. It will disappear. Dishwasher racks can also cause this, which is due to the friction while cleaning.
Is Arzberg very expensive? Yes. But this is because it is manufactured in Germany and is the best the world has to offer. One of the biggest advantages is the timelessness of Arzberg: you can replace items easily, unless the pattern has been discontinued by the factory which is quite rare. For example, Shape 1382 was designed in the 1931 and it is still available.
