ON AUCTION IS A WEIRD ASIAN BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN CANDLE SNUFFER. THE HANDLE HAS THE SHAPE OF A DOG BUT WITH A HUMAN OR LION FACE. ON THE SIDES ARE TWO BATS AND CHINESE LONGEVITY SYMBOLS.
 
A mythical creature originating in ancient Chinese lore, the Foo dog, essentially a hybrid of a dog and a lion, was thought to ward off evil spirits.
 
In China, a bat is a symbol of good fortune and blessings, not evil. The word for bat in Chinese, "Fu", is a homophone for the word "fortune" or "blessing". 
 
The Chinese Longevity symbol I believe is on the sides which literally imply blessings of longevity.
