Asian Porcelain Plate, Hand Painted Transfer Ware Plate, D & J Company Singapore

This lovely round serving plate or platter is probably Asian porcelain and it offers a versatile size. Made by D & J Company, this thick porcelain plate is the Singapore pattern, and it resembles the Indian Tree and Chelsea Bird patterns popular at the time. Made by combining the decorating techniques of transfer ware and hand painting, the design is intricate, colorful, vibrant, and highly appealing. On the underside is the manufacturers mark. The plate is in good condition. The plate has no cracks, no hairlines, no fleabites, no problems, just some wear to the gilding and minor paint loss. I think this is likely from the later part of the 1800s or early 1900s.
