Game Comparison
Black Flag: Set in the Golden Age of Piracy, you play as Edward Kenway, a swashbuckling pirate exploring the sunny Caribbean. The gameplay focuses on naval combat, plundering ships, and tropical exploration on a massive scale.
Rogue: Set during the Seven Years' War, this is the "darker" counterpart. You play as Shay Patrick Cormac, an Assassin who defects to become a Templar. Set in the icy North Atlantic and River Valley, it reverses the formula, having you hunt down Assassins while fending off boarders on your own ship.

While you can play Rogue on its own, fans highly recommend playing Black Flag first.

Black Flag: Starts in 1715.
