Listed are two (2) combos of ASUS P5G41M-T LX motherboard, one with a Celeron E3300 and the other with a Celeron E3400 processor.
CPU Socket: LGA 775
Memory slots: 2x DDR3 240-pin slots supporting 1066Mhz as standard, 1333Mhz either via OC or with a CPU with a sufficiently-high FSB
1x PCI-E 1.1 slot
NOTE THAT THE FIRST SOLD AND PAID FOR UNIT WILL BE THE E3400 COMBO AND INCLUDE FREE OF CHARGE A PENTIUM 5700 I BELIEVE TO BE IN WORKING ORDER. Note however that I have NOT tested the included E5700 CPU as I have not taken the time to test it again since I removed it from a working system. It's thus no more than a maybe-working freebie and this listing's pricing is based on a working E3300-based combo. The three CPUs are architecturally/functionally the same, just with different multipliers and the E5700 having 2MB L2 cache; if you seek to overclock these you are working with FSB clock, not multiplier, so higher base multiplier = higher potential overclock.
See here for a rough scaling of their relative performance: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-Celeron-E3300-vs-Intel-Celeron-E3400-vs-Intel-Pentium-E5700/677vs678vs1101
The two boards and their fitted CPUs however I am confident are working. Both have been repasted and tested.
Note that the two boards are different revisions of the same model:
E3300-fitted = rev.1.00G
E3400-fitted = rev 1.04
Likewise, the fan on the E3400 has a smaller total diameter than the E3300's.
In use I have not found either to be significantly different in functionality/performance where motherboard revision is concerned. Under load the E3400 tends to be a little louder, but neither has the world's best stock cooler (fully aluminium), so if you change this out for even a cheap aftermarket cooler you'll see significant gains in quietness and cooling performance.
Either combo should be great for HTPC use as both boards support the fitting of a S/PDIF module for coaxial and optical output (I do not include these however). The motherboard uses the Realtek ALC887 chip. You may need to fit them with a graphics card for higher-bitrate and/or more complex decoding requirements (note also that neither board has DVI/HDMI output, so you'd need that by default depending on your screen/TV connection options).
To this effect, I can assist with modifying the drivers such you should be able to achieve full 5.1 over digital for general Windows usage and games, along with adjusting a setting in Chrome to allow Youtube among other players to output a surround signal rather than stereo for stereo content (Chrome setting - message me about it, it may help with w/e you're using already - won't list it here in case I'm held liable for offering an adjustment which causes problems for people)
Both boards are provided with their IO shields.
