Athearn upgrade - 12V-24V 22200rpm High Torque 5-Pole Dual Shaft Motor

DC 12V-24V 22200rpm High Torque 5-Pole Dual Shaft Carbon Brush Motor for model trains, boats, planes etc.

Works well as replacement motor for blue box Athearn Diesels

      Example installation into a 3 axle SD45 Athearn (See pictures as well)

1.    Remove the head of a 2mm pop rivet with 3mm outside diameter (2 rivets supplied with each motor). Cut it to size and fit into the fly wheels. The shaft fits easily into the rivet head. Glue both sleeve and motor shaft in with gel super glue. To mount the motor, use the plastic / rubber mounting pads that come with the Athearn diesels. Cut a shim / piece of very thin plastic and glue the motor onto that platform. The thickness of the shim must be sufficient to get the drive shafts at both ends of the fly wheels level, going into the gear towers.
