Attractive Antique 'Noritake' Coffee Set
This lovely, antique, Japanese porcelain coffee set is beautifully decorated and hand-painted and was manufactured by the well-known 'Noritake' porcelain factory around the early 1900's. The set consists of six coffee cans and saucers, a coffee pot, sugar bowl with lid and a creamer. Each piece is individually hand painted in lovely detail, featuring a country scene with cottages, near a lake with a boat, surrounded by trees, all in autumn colours. Then each piece, including the lids, has this wonderful cobalt blue border with a very pretty gold-leaf floral pattern, finished off with gilt handles and trims. They are stamped on their bases with the very early blue 'Komaru' mark which was registered in 1908. The set is in amazing condition, except for two cups with hairline cracks and there's wear to the gilding on the handles of two pieces. The coffee pot stands 16cm high, the cups stand 5cm high, with the saucers measuring 10,5cm in diameter and together the set weighs 1235g.
