Easy and tolerant rock garden plant which will quite quickly form a large spreading mat. Greyish-green downy leaves which is covered by flowers in late spring or early summer. There are pink, mauve, blue, purple and white flowering forms. Will trail over rocks and the edges of walls.Cultivation:
Cut back very hard after flowering to maintain tidy growth, otherwise the plants will become thin at the centre with straggly growth.Propagation:
Surface sow seed at 60-75F/15-24C, and grow in full sun, and well-drained, alkaline soil; light needed for germination. Can be started indoors from late winter onward. May also be divided in early fall, or grown from cuttings taken summer or fall.Design and Other Uses:
