Imposing Spark model of the first diesel car to win Le Mans in 2006. It went onto win again in 2007 and 2008. This 2007 car is resplendent in Audi/German livery and it certainly cuts a striking look. Developed from the super successful petrol Audi R8.

The three drivers Pirro; Werner and Biela also won in 2006.

Audi introduced the TDI diesel technology to racing to improve the dirty and slow image of diesel engines. Diesel cars already made up over 50% of the European road car market and the VW group believed that racing diesel engines would improve their image and speed up development which would be reflected in the road cars.

All the good intentions were nullified when the VW group was caught up in the Dieselgate Scandal...This resulted in the percentage of diesel cars sold in Europe to drop to barely 14%.

In mint condition and supplied in its original box also perfect.

From my private collection. More Le Mans cars to follow.
