Aurelio Craffonara ( 1875-1945 ) WATERCOLOUR: Genoa Harbour Scene, Caravel and Battleship, c. 1930

 In the harbour is a replica of a 13^th century trading vessel ( a caravel with lateen sails ). In the background is a modern battleship, probably part of Mussolinis navy and so called Littorio-class , most of which were built in Estri Ponente, in Genoa. The artist Aurelio Craffonara was born in Gallarate in 1875 and trained under Tammar Luxoro at the Accademia Ligustica of Fine Arts in Genoa, where he died in 1945.

He is a listed professional Italian artist, highly collectible, as is the subject matter.
