LITHGOW 1907 PATTERN BAYONET
What a seriously spectacular find. I have to start by saying, it is very SELDOM that you are going to come across a bayonet of this age in this sort of condition. I feel the photographs don't do it any justice, this is a stunning piece.
Bayonet comes complete with scabbard and frog.
This Lithgow MA 1907 bayonet was introduced into service during the month of April 1942 (WWII). It was manufactured at the Lithgow Small Arms Factory, in New South Wales, Australia. It is stamped S.A.P. (SA Police) on the Pommel and wooden grip, on one side only. The wood used is coachwood and were made by Slazenger and stamped "SLAZ42". All metal work is "Blued" giving it a blue-grey-black colour.
CONDITION: EXCELLENT/STUNNING considering it is over 70 years old. This is an original and has NOT been rebuilt or refurbished. The blade has never been sharpened and still has it's original factory sharpened edge. There are some signs of light wear predominantly on the wooden grips resulting in the "SLAZ42" stamps being very faint. Please study the pictures for a full description.
