Austro Hungarian Silver inkwell(1881-1919)

A stunning round silver Austro Hungarian inkwell made by the  illustrious silversmith Eduard Friedland betwen 1881and 1919.

Beautifully embossed sitting on 3 balled feet

Eduard Freidland executed designs by Rudolf Karger,Milla Weltman and by the architects Hans Bolek Emanuel Margold & Otto Prutscher

It is  10.5cm across with the inner hole 4.5cm across

Height:4 cm from bottom of balled feet

It weighs on my house scale 81 grams without the liner

Hallmarked with the Dinah head with A=Vienna

In a lovely condition with less than the usual scratches ,dinks or dents and no repairsfor an item of this age

Please note that the liner is unmarked porcelain & in my opinion does not appear to be the original liner, but i dont know.Maybe it is.

I can't make out the number for the fineness of silver as the punch marking is so small. It could well be a 1,if it is then the fineness is 950/1000

I have shown the hallmark so you can make up your own mind

Give it a nice polish and it will look stunning on your desk or in the display cabinet

A low start on a lovely piece  aged between 90 and 128 years old

Happy Bidding
