About the Author....Kumkum Bhasin came to South Africa with her family in 1993. Her culinary skills in the true Indian tradition have been passed down to her by her mother, an excellent cook in her own right. Her years of diplomatic entertaining around the world and the constant cravings of her two children have induced her to perfect her knowledge into an internationally acclaimed art. Kumkum spent her childhood in northern India, where she graduated in Home Economics from the University of Dehli. She began her world travels in China and has lived in Malaysia, America, Hong Kong and southern Africa. She has taught in a number of schools, at the same time managing to further her own education as well. She spent two years studying hotel and food management in America, which contributed to the development of her cooking style.
Despite her busy diplomatic schedule and the demands of her two children, Kumkum has found the time to be an artist, musician, teacher and hotelier on three continents. This hectic lifestyle together with a commitment to a healthy family life, have led to the development of a collection of quick, easy and wholesome recipes. While excellent for everyday cooking, these foods have been served to some of the world's most prominent figures.
