Up for sale is a beautifully preserved, mid-20th-century German salt-glazed stoneware wine pitcher (Weinkrug) produced by the renowned manufacturer Marzi & Remy.
This piece features classic Westerwald styling with vibrant cobalt blue detailing contrasted against a traditional greyish-white clay background.
The front panel is finely embossed with the traditional German rhyme: "Fein schmeckt der Wein aus einem Krug von Stein" ("Fine wine tastes best from a stone jug").
