Franked by the Parliamentary Post office one day before Nelson Mandela’s inauguration, this envelope is franked and tied with stamps depicting Paul Kruger’s Boer War heroes (Kruger, Joubert and Pretorius), the first four presidents of the RSA (Swart, Fouche, Diedericks and Voster), Marais Viljoen, PW Botha, FW de Klerk, Nelson Mandela, as well as the old SA Flag (two stamps) and the 1994 inauguration set.
Lastly and never seen before by me on these covers are the 2 and a half cent HF Verwoerd stamp depicting Verwoerd’s face in front of the Union Buildings.
All the stamps have been officially franked by the Post Office (Parliament Branch).
The cover has been personally signed (autographed) by Dullah Omar who became Minister of Justice in South Africa in Nelson Mandela's ANC government, and was the first cabinet minister appointed Acting President in the absence of both the President and Deputy President from South Africa.
