The Avontuur Estate 10 year old Brandy was potstilled in a copper still and aged for 10 years in French oak barrels in the old cellar on the Estate. It is clean and crisp on the nose with strong vanilla undertones. On the palate a surprising amount of dried apricots and orange peel manifests. The finish is smooth and warm with a slight nuttiness on the aftertaste. The deep caramel colour is due to colour extraction from the used red wine casks in which it was aged.
