After Ford Withdrew from Racing, Privateers took the Ford GT 40 Flag further !!
Jacky Ickx took Le Mans in '69 with a Four year old Mirage, basically a FORD GT 40 !! The Car had Four years of hard endurance Racing behind it,and was given no change due to its age, Incredible mileage & considered obsolete. The Car,in Gulf Colors had two factors up its sleeve- Firstly being prepared by the Best in the Endurance Racing business- Automotive Products, and secondly the incredible Jacky Ickx, who at the end of the race,used his experience & proved to be not only one of the Best,but also a wily old Fox by putting the car ahead right at the end of the Race to take Le Mans !!
Automotive Products kept the Four Year Ford Old Racing Car going for 24 Hours at a incredible speed-One of the many gear feats at Le Mans
It was a sight & experience to behold, standing in the Pits at Kyalamy, to experience Jacky Ickx flying through in the Red Ferrari !!
