Founded in 1775 by John Aynsley, Aynsley China has been a highly influential company in the British tableware industry for centuries. Renowned for their intricate and distinctive designs as well as their meticulous craftsmanship, Aynsley China quickly gained popularity. The company's reputation was further solidified when Queen Victoria herself commissioned them to produce a set of tableware for her personal use. As a result, Aynsley China was granted permission to incorporate the royal family seal in its logo, reaffirming its esteemed status and its significant place in the history of dinnerware.
Despite the evolution of china making processes in modern times, Aynsley China has remained steadfast in its production techniques, which have remained largely unchanged since the company's inception. This commitment to tradition and craftsmanship has allowed Aynsley China to maintain its distinct character and timeless appeal.
One delightful offering from Aynsley China is the creamer and open sugar bowl set. The footed creamer showcases colorful fruit motifs against a cream background, with a slightly scalloped gold rim, handle, and base. The interior of the creamer is adorned with gold accents. This particular piece is signed by both 'D. Jones' (Doris Jones, active from 1938 to 1975) indicating the artists involved in its creation.
The matching open sugar bowl is similarly adorned with vibrant fruit designs on a cream base, featuring a scalloped gold rim and gold base. Like the creamer, this sugar bowl is also signed by 'D. Jones' (Doris Jones, active from 1938 to 1975).
Part of the Orchard Gold collection, these pieces are crafted from bone china, a high-quality material known for its durability and translucency. The creamer measures approximately 9cm in height and 8.5cm width, while the sugar bowl stands at around 6cm in height and 10cm in width.
Both the creamer and sugar bowl bear the markings 'AYNSLEY ENGLAND BONE CHINA' and the signature 'D. Jones.' These pieces are in excellent condition, though they are classified as used. For a more detailed visual representation, please refer to the accompanying images
