Azara petiolaris
25 seeds
Small, lavender-white fruited shrub that is very popular with birds.
Description: Shrubby tree to 15-20ft. The flowers are borne in Spring and are quite pretty. Small fruits are followed during early and mid-summer.
Hardiness: Hardy to the low or mid 20's (F).
Growing Environment: Grows well in most soil types, as long as they are well-drained. Grow in full sun or part shade. Keep watered regularly, though short droughts are tolerated.
Propagation: By seeds.
Uses: Generally grown as an ornamental for its powder-puff yellow-orange flowers, or to attract birds which seem to love the fruits. The fruits themselves are presumably edible for humans.
Native Range: Native to Chile.
