The image shows a model of a British Railways J72 class 0-6-0 tank engine, numbered 68745. These locomotives were originally designed for the North Eastern Railway (NER) and later became part of the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) before being absorbed into British Railways in 1948. The J72 class was primarily used for shunting and local passenger services. 68745 would have been built at Darlington Works, like the majority of the class. The model appears to be in BR black livery with the late crest, which was used from 1956 onwards. The number 68745 indicates that it was part of the British Railways stock.
