The book tells Themba Sibiya's story. Although he was born in Johannesburg he moved with his family to Zululand quite close to Ulundi where he went to school. He then worked on the coal mines in northern Natal. Later he became a diesel mechanic working with heavy machinery and living in a large greater Durban township.
