A typical hexagonal pickle bottle from the late 1890's. It has a wide mouth to enable large pieces to be taken out.The bottle is 19cm high with its glass top and is unusual in having Baird's Pickles Glasgow embossed on three panels. Usually these bottles just had paper labels. The stopper would have had a cork sleeve so that it fitted snugly in the top of the bottle. Apart from some small scuff marks, it is in very good condition for a dump dug bottle.
