Ballantines 21 Year Old Very Old Scotch Whisky, Older Bottling
An earlier-era bottling of Ballantines 21 Year Old, first launched by George Ballantine & Son in 1993 as one of the brands flagship aged expressions. The label reads Blended & Bottled by George Ballantine & Son Limited, Distillers Dumbarton, Scotland, dating this bottle to before 2002, when the Dumbarton grain distillery was mothballed and production shifted elsewhere distinct from the current Pernod Ricard-era release. The bottle carries the older green presentation box, gold foil crest detailing, and a gold wire security seal with hanging tag around the neck, a feature no longer used on todays packaging.
The blend is built around Ballantines Speyside fingerprint malts principally Miltonduff and Glenburgie married with grain whisky matured for a minimum of 21 years in oak casks, bottled at 43% ABV. Expect a rich, sherried nose with dried fruit, honey and floral top notes, aromatic spice, and a long, mellow finish.
