Bambusa tuldoides or "Punting Pole Bamboo" is a large or "giant" variety with bright green leaves on long, thick green and straight culms. These are clumping bamboos, which can be used in any landscape or indoor pot without the need for being curbed or restrained. Culms normally grow to an avg height of 3m within 2 years after planting, thereafter new culms can reach 15m. Ideal for larger gardens, "green screens" along fences, as a grove, hedge, or as a main attraction next to water features.
**Evergreen**
***Cold and frost tolerant***
Well rooted, individual young bare root plants are being sold here, minimum 2 stems.
Plants are trimmed shorter (30-50cm), soil is removed and roots are carefully wrapped in moist materials, then plants are packaged in boxes and sealed. They can remain in these boxes for 2 weeks and still survive. Bamboo is an extremely tough plant.
New shoots can be expected within weeks after arrival. If possible, plants should be planted into black nursery bags or plastic pots and placed in full shade after arrival, for at least 2 weeks before being planted into their new positions within the garden. This is to minimize the shock of transport, and to speed up the production of new shoots.
Bamboo absorbs 3x more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than trees, produces 3x more oxygen than trees and grow a lot faster. Birds love bamboo, pests leave them alone.
Bamboo plants can be planted in full shade to full sun, where watering could range from weekly to fortnightly.
Bamboo leaves are more nutritious than lucerne, which make them ideal to feed to worms (worm farms for vermiculture), chickens, livestock and even fish.
