The first print run of the first notes printed with the new governor’s signature (N$ 50 and 100) are recognised by having only a 7 digit serial number. It is also the beginning of a very confusing serial numbering system which becomes important in identifying to which issue the subsequent notes belong – this is important as the subsequent runs of notes are often printed by different bank note printing companies that have not been given permission to print their name onto the notes. It is for this reason that the print run serial numbers have been added where known.
