Barbara Erni contemporary porcelain studio vase with crystalline glaze

Offered for sale is a fine hand thrown porcelain vase with crystalline glaze by acclaimed contemporary South African potter Barbara Erni. The date of execution is unkown but probably 1990's. Barbara Erni who originates from Germany is a graduate from Wits Technikon  in Ceramic Science (now the University of Johannesburg) is noted for her elegant understated vases with spectacular crystalline glaze effects, a technically complex manufacturing process entailing the application of crystals to the glaze during the firing process ; the bloom /blossom like crystal effect is an arbitrary effect achieved in the kiln during the firing and cooling process. The vase is signed with the artists BE incised monogram. Barbara Erni's ceramics are represented in corporate art collections inclusing the Corobrik Collection of contemporary South African  housed at the Pretoria Art Museum  which owns a very similar example to the piece listed in white porcelain with pale primrose yellow crystal glaze highlights.
