Made of flesh-toned plastic, the first Barbie dolls wore a black and white knit swimsuit that was used through 1961. In 1959 the accessories were white sunglasses with blue lenses, black open-toe shoes, and hoop earrings. Characteristics of #1 and #2 dolls were very similar, with one exception #1 had drilled holes in her feet to fit on her doll stand #2 did not. Both dolls were available as a blonde and brunette. Facial characteristics included arched brows, black eye paint, colorless pupils, and bright red lips. All dolls had red nail polish on hands and toes.
This charming giftset comes with a reproduction of the 1959 #1 Ponytail Barbie doll, as well as reproductions of the 1959 Easter Parade and Roman Holiday fashions. The detailing and accessories on these reproductions are incredible, and will surely evoke the nostalgia of childhood in many adult collectors!
Barbie with blonde ponytail is dressed in the iconic black and white striped swimsuit, “gold” hoop earrings and comes with black open-toe shoes.

Roman Holiday the original travel ensemble has been reproduced right down to the rarest of all accessories her tiny brass compact. Belted dress with matching red and white ribbed coat, red straw cord half-hat, white plastic purse, black rimmed glasses in plastic case, plastic comb, hankie, “pearl” on a chain necklace, white short gloves and black open-toe shoes.
Easter Parade reproduction of one of the most desirable outfits from 1959. Apple print cotton sheath dress, black faille spring coat with back gathers, big patch pockets with self-bow accents, black bow headband of silk organza, black clutch bag, “pearl” necklace and earrings, white cat-eye sunglasses, and black open-toe shoes.
