Barbie Doll - Vintage 1964 Miss Barbie, original boxed - RARE
Miss Barbie was the first Barbie doll from Mattel to have open and close sleep eyes and the first Barbie with bendable legs.
She was only made for 1 year, because her eyes seemed to scare children. This, making her harder to find 50+ years later.
These dolls are notorious for getting severe melt marks on their heads and faces due to the cap/wigs being left on for extended periods of time, this one is beautiful. This dolls face however is absolutely beautiful and in fantastic condition.
She has 2 very minor melt marks on her right temple and a tiny mark on her right cheek.
All of her face and head paint is original. She has a very small lip rub and very few minor head rubs, and comes with her original orange headband.
Her eyes are still bright and open and close perfectly.
Her torso is slightly textured and her head seems loose, but it is not. This is a common feature with Miss Barbie due to the O-ring in her head,
She retains 90% of her nail polish. This doll was in a sitting position with her legs bent for many years, therefore causing a slight bubble on each of her knees. Her right leg is slightly loose when pulled outward. She has a split behind her right knee, which the previous owner attempted to repair. Her legs click, bend and hold position.
She comes dressed in her original pink ruffled swimsuit with printed dots, swim cap with glitter flecks and pink reproduction open toe heels. Her box is in good condition for its age. There is some creasing, dog earring and very slight water marking on the lid. There is yellow crayon scribbling on one of the panels of the inner box. The inner box is not complete as some of the inside panels are missing.
Inside the box, you will find a wig stand with melt marks and 3 wigs (the red bubblecut and brunette flip are original to the set. The blonde bubblecut should originally be a blonde pageboy style). This is how I purchased this set.
Included, is her Go-together lawn swing with its colourful striped cotton swing seat and canopy trimmed in white fringe. There is no staining or colour bleeding on the cotton set.
There are melt marks on various parts of the lawn swing structure, which is a common occurrence with this set. There are some lugs broken, but still assembles.
The swing structure should snap together but the plastic is notorious for becoming brittle with age. So if you do decide to assemble it, then please do so with caution and care.
This is a beautiful example of this rare Barbie, VERY hard to find in this condition, as most have bad melt-marks. You wont be disappointed.
