Robben Island, where former South African President Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27yrs, is now a world heritage site.

This Medallion is the first to feature both Mandela an Robben Island on the same Medallion and was launched in 2009. It is proof quality, a half ounce of pure gold (. 999Au) and 27mm in diameter. The face of the Medallion has the upper torso of Mandela with his face on and the reverse side has the profile of Table Mountain overlooking an aerial view of Robben Island. It has the words Robben Island and the dates 1964 - 1982 commemorating Nelson Mandela's time of imprisonment on the Island. It comes packaged in a beautiful wooden box as per picture with a numbered certificate in it. These medallions were minted by the Mint of Norway(the Mint that has been granted permission by the Mandela Foundation) It has a limited edition of 2010 worldwide.
