Linguine is the close relative of Fettuccine and is made in long, flat strands of durum wheat semolina, thinner, and narrower than Fettucine.
They originate from the coast of the Italian Province of Liguria and its name in Italian means "little tongues". Linguine is most commonly served with basil pesto, but also with tomato-, fish, or vegetable sauces.
