Made in South Africa for a brief period between 1976 and 1982, Bartholomina Dolls have become a favourite among serious collectors. They came in kit form and were made in limited numbers.  (Some 300 & others 500 - after which the moulds were destroyed.)

In 1976 Carolyn McSweeney(Metcalfe) started a small family business, Bartholomina Dolls.

Bartholomina Dolls were made from earthenware by Carolyn and her sister Jenny Ferreira (Metcalfe). Their neice made 3 of the dolls in this series. A further series of 5 name dolls plus a doll to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the 1820 settlers in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape, followed.

This doll is the number 11 doll, 48/300, and has dark brown hair. Includes instructions and patterns for clothing, fabric and stuffing for body, shoes and accessories where applicable. In excellent condition. (Finished doll will be approximately 45cm.)

Postage for buyer.
