Between 1880 and 1894, Germany established its authority in South West Africa (modern-day Namibia) through the actions of German merchant Adolf Lüderitz, who sought protection for his planned settlement, which led to the formal annexation of the territory by Germany in 1884. This book forms the thesis with which the author obtained his degree. An attempt is made to give a synopsis of events in South West African during the first ten years of German administration. A summary is also given of the period from 1880 when the Nama-Herero war broke out, till German annexation.
