Paintings by Gail van Lingen, text by George Chadwick, George Duxbury, John Laband, Pamela McFadden, Jeffrey Matthews, and Gilbert Torlage,

Between 1987 and 1991 Gail embarked on a project to paint the Battlefields of South Africa. Recognising the historical value of the paintings her works were later published as this book.

In particular, he has been Professor of History at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, and a Research Associate of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
