This is a classic piece of American cine history: the Bausch Lomb 25mm f/2.7 Animar Balcote lens. Manufactured in the U.S.A., this lens was the standard or normal focal length for 16mm movie cameras, prized for its robust build and optical quality.
The lens features BALCOTE multi-coating (Bausch Lomb's proprietary anti-reflection coating), an advanced feature for its era (1940s-1950s), which helps improve light transmission and reduce flare.
A unique and highly collectible feature is the pictorial aperture markings, including settings for DULL, HAZY, BRIGHT and SUMMER/WINTER, offering a fascinating glimpse into early motion picture exposure techniques, alongside the traditional f-stop markings (f/2.7 to f/16).
The lens is in Very Good (VG) working condition but shows significant cosmetic wear typical of its age and material.
A great historical piece, suitable for collecting or adapting to modern mirrorless cameras (with appropriate adapters).
