Beautiful 1952 Portrait Painting by Laurel Zahn (1931-2010) SA Master Artist

A BEAUTIFUL PORTRAIT OIL ON BOARD BY SOUTH AFRICAN MASTER ARTIST LAUREL ZAHN (1931-2010). DONE IN 1952 IT DEPICTS A YOUNG LADY IN YELLOW DRESS AND HAIRSTYLE OF THE ERA. FRAMED IN A GOLD PAINTED WOODEN FRAME BY HOWARD SHAW IN LONDON ENGLAND.
 
LAUREL ZAHN (MRS JOHN GOODWIN) 1931-2010:
Laurel Gilbert Goodwin (born Zahn) was born in 1931 in Knysna South Africa. She attended Diocesan College and later Rhodes University, Grahamstown.
In her twenties she became famous for her paintings and was known for her lifelike portrait paintings. She is regarded by many today as a South African Master.
Laurel Zahn became the wife of the famous british Yachtsman John Goodwin.  John Goodwin first made a name for himself when he sailed his Vertue class cutter Speedwell of Hong Kong solo from the UK to the Caribbean and from there, solo again to Cape Town in 1958.
John was also the skipper of Albatross 2 when she won the Cape to Rio Race in 1971.
Laurel passed away circa 2010, at age 78.
