Barbara Ploner was born 25 December 1946 in Dundee, Natal. She Matriculated in art and is self-taught and developed her individual style which is semi- impressionistic.

She has been professional since the age of 25 and has published Prestige calenders since 1985. She has participated in several national and group exhibitions. Her art is found in many private and corporate collections locally and abroad.

She has a particular love of painting South African landscapes and seascapes, with emphasis on dramatic skies and moods. Her medium of choice is oils with an individualistic choice of colour usage.

Barbara Ploner expresses her feelings for out country and its people as is evident in her paintings of people of different cultures and wildlife interpretations, reflecting the love of the South African heritage.
