Inspiration Behind the Painting:

This botanical study was done using a photo of a bouquet of flowers I had picked from my Karoo garden (in Barrydale) at the beginning of Spring 2023.

I took a section of the photo and immortalized these delicate wonders. We have such a plethora of pretty flowers in the garden from roses and lavenders to geraniums, Californian poppies and honeysuckles - all which can be seen in this acrylic study. The white lavenders seen here are one of my favourites. I remember seeing white lavenders about 10 years ago for the first time and swore that when I finally bought my dream house, white lavenders will be in the garden. I now have 3 of these unusual bushes growing in my garden.
