Another true masterpiece By South Africa's last coppersmith DE KLERK.
De Klerks' great grandfather, Hendrik Eliza, started the business around "89 and a half years ago, working as a blacksmith and later working in copper. He passed the craft onto his son, Hermanus Jacobus (known as Harry) who started working in copper as well. I believe Harry's son, Cecil who worked in wrought iron, brass and copper is the manufacturer of this masterpiece.
Cecil de Klerk was largely involved in making bedwarmers, bowl, jugs, mugs and spoons which were fashionable in the 60s, 70s and 80s. They can be seen in homes around the country with their trademark "De Klerk" stamped on each item.
