Beautiful Floral Still life with window pastel signed H Gordon "88" (Framed - Silver gilt) His juxtaposition of hues result in a dazzling sense of light. Measurement 95cm height by 74 cm width including frame
Henry Gordon is a nom de plume, and as with other artists over the years who started with pen names, this artist has now accepted ‘Gordon’ as his trade name as well as the name he prefers to be addressed as.
Gordon was born in 1959, the son of fine artists. He was exposed to the art world at a very early age through his parents’ artistic surroundings. At the young age of eleven Gordon began his training in art with the guidance of both of his parents. During his academic training Gordon’s paintings became influenced by famous masters such as Monet, Bernard and Michelangelo.
In 1983, Gordon went to Boston and entered the Massachusetts College Of Art where he earned, along with several awards, a bachelor of fine arts degree with honor standing. Gordon then began a master of fine arts degree at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
For Gordon, painting is a process in which the artist can interact with color and light. The striking juxtapositions of hues, which result in a new shimmering, now subdued and often dazzling sense of light is one of the outstanding characteristics of his work.
